The Detroit Sports Commission, Detroit's sports tourism entity, is proud to announce the newest member to join its board.
Ian Conyers is the Head of Community Affairs for Amazon in the Midwest. Conyers served as an elected member of the Michigan Senate from 2016 to 2019 as the Minority Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee and a member of the Economic Development & International Investment, Energy & Technology, and Banking & Financial Services Committees.

"Ian brings valuable experience across public policy, business, and community engagement, along with a strong understanding of how strategic partnerships can drive impact. Conyers received a Crain's Detroit 40 Under 40 award in 2024 and was also named a 2024 Michigan Chronicle Men of Excellence Honoree.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Conyers holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
Conyers previously served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit and currently serves as a board member for Athletes Without Limits and as an alumni admissions program interviewer for Georgetown. He holds an executive board member position with the Pope Francis Center and a governing board member role with Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport.
An avid runner and skier, Conyers has also traveled to over 50 countries and 47 states.
