From July 12 to 20, Detroit will proudly host some of the world's best youth bowlers for the 2024 USBC Junior Gold Championships. This prestigious event, held at various venues across the region, is an annual national tournament showcasing the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States.

• Under-12 Boys and Under-15 Boys:
  • Sterling Lanes: 2666 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights
  • Five Star Lanes: 33200 Schoenherr Road, Sterling Heights
• Under-12 Girls and Under-18 Girls:
  • Merri-Bowl Lanes: 30950 Five Mile Road, Livonia
  • Oak Lanes: 8450 N. Middlebelt, Westland
• Under-15 Girls and Under-18 Boys:
  • Super Bowl: 45100 Ford Road, Canton
  • Skore Lanes: 22255 Ecorse Road, Taylor
  • Century Bowl: 7345 Highland Road, Waterford
  • Thunderbowl Lanes: 4200 Allen Road, Allen Park

 
The finals for each of the six divisions will be held on July 20 at the respective sites.
 
Event Highlights:
 

• Opening Ceremonies: July 14 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti.
• Trade Show and Registration: July 13 at the Suburban Collection Showplace.

 
Phil Goodman, Metro Detroit USBC Association Manager, expressed excitement about the event, stating, "We are expecting nearly 4,000 youth bowlers from across the country, including as far away as Hawaii. Last year, Hawaii brought 50 bowlers to the Trade Show in Indianapolis, which was very cool."
 
Additional Events:
 

• Youth Open Championship: Running concurrently during the nine days.
• Youth-Adult Bowling Tournament: At Town and Country Lanes, 1100 S. Wayne Road, Westland. This tournament provides an opportunity for Junior Gold bowlers eliminated early to participate in another competition. According to Goodman, "The last time the Adult-Youth event was in Detroit, we had 550 bowlers. This year, there will be an Adult-Youth Baker Doubles Tournament."

 
Entry Details:
 

• Divisions: Six, mirroring the Junior Gold structure.
• Entry Fee: $60 ($25 for scholarship funds, $35 for lineage and expenses). Entries postmarked after Sunday will incur a $70 fee.
• Squad Times: 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
