RELEASE: Terry Rhadigan Named Chair of Detroit Sports Organizing Corp

2024 NFL Draft and 2027 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® Next Up for Detroit

Terry RhadiganDETROIT (May 30, 2023) – The Detroit Sports Commission (DSC) announced today Terry Rhadigan as the new chair of the Detroit Sports Organizing Corp (DSOC).
 
In his new role, Rhadigan, Vice President of Corporate Giving at General Motors, will lead the DSOC's efforts to prioritize, evaluate and execute significant future bid opportunities to enable the DSC to attract major sporting events and visitors to the Detroit region that creates economic and community impact while enhancing the region's image. The all-volunteer advisory board represents the ranking of private-sector, civic, philanthropic, community and sports leadership across the Detroit area.

"Terry has been a key contributor to our organization and brings significant strategic acumen, expertise and passion and he played an important role in our recent pitch that landed the 2027 NCAA Men's Final Four."
 
At General Motors, Rhadigan leads the company's charitable efforts in GM's headquarters city of Detroit and around the world which includes a $60 million nonprofit grant portfolio, employee volunteerism and engagement, and community relations... Rhadigan started his General Motors career in 1988, holding various field positions in customer and dealer support before moving to the Chevrolet Marketing Center and the former GM Foundation. Rhadigan is a Leadership Detroit XIX graduate and an Officer of the Detroit Economic Club. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Automotive Hall of Fame, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, the Detroit Regional Partnership and Loyola High School in Detroit. Rhadigan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.

Recent major sporting events announced for the Detroit region include not only the 2024 NFL Draft and 2027 NCAA® Men's Final Four®, but also the 2023 WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field and eight future United States Golf Association (USGA) championships, including two men's and two women's U.S. Opens.
