In 2017, Pamela Villarosa became the first Sales Coordinator at the Detroit Sports Commission; and has shaped this critical position since she transitioned from her role with the Visit Detroit Team as a Sales Coordinator. She has implemented processes and managed administrative duties while providing support to the entire team by coordinating site visits, serving as a liaison with our Partners, managing procurement processes, as well as creating bid and proposal presentations. Pamela has been instrumental in the Detroit Sports Commission’s achievement of winning numerous bids including: 2024 NCAA Division1 Men’s Basketball Midwest Regional, 2024 USA National Hockey Championships, 2024 NAIA Men’s/Women’s Bowling, 2024 NFL Draft, 2024 Can-Am Classic, 2024 Golden Gloves, 2024 BMX, 2024 The Cairns Cup, 2027 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Prior to her time at Visit Detroit, Pamela Villarosa developed a broad set of transferable skills with more than two decades in the hospitality and retail industries. After several years in retail with Mr. Alan’s Men’s Bootery in the Metro Detroit area, Pam began her hospitality career at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center (formerly Westin Hotel) as a midnight front desk agent. She was quickly promoted to Front Office Manager. After being at the front desk for 10 years, Pamela was tapped by the Mariott Great Lakes Regional Sales Office team. She rose through the ranks to the position of Senior Sales Manager for a five-state with 70+ hotel territory in 4 states. At Marriott International, Pamela has earned numerous Golden Circle Awards as well as the office winning Sales Team of the Year.
After 17 years with Marriott International, Pamela left the organization to become a licensed massage therapist, graduating from Irene’s Myomassology Institute. While she enjoyed the training and her colleagues in this healing allied health community, she soon found herself being drawn back to her professional roots. Her love of the hospitality industry combined with her established reputation for excellence and dedication within the region eventually led to her accepting the invitation to join the Visit Detroit Team as a Sales Coordinator in 2012. At Visit Detroit/Detroit Sports Commission, Pamela has earned numerous awards for Employee of the Month and Outstanding Performance Award (OPA).
