Alma Davila-Toro is a seasoned sports management professional with over 20 years of experience, having joined the Detroit Sports Commission (DSC) in November 2018. In recognition of her expertise and dedication, she was elevated to the position of Senior Event Manager in 2021 and now serves as the Managing Director of Operations for the 2027 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® Local Organizing Committee.

Throughout her tenure at the DSC, she has been co-tournament director for various NCAA championships such as the 2021 Division II Women's Golf Championship, 2022 Division I Wrestling Championships, 2022 Division II Men's Golf Championship, 2024 DI Men’s Basketball Midwest Regional, and the 2024 DI Women’s Bowling National Championship.
Davila-Toro has also played a pivotal role in providing event management services and consultation to organizers hosting events in metro Detroit. Notable among these endeavors are her contributions to the successful execution of events like the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 2019, USA Weightlifting Nationals Week in 2021, and the USA Boxing National Qualifiers in 2023.

Prior to her role at the DSC, Davila-Toro amassed invaluable experience during her 17 years with the University of Michigan Athletic Department. There, she held various roles culminating in her position as an event manager for men’s and women’s basketball, track and field, and rowing programs, as well as the Director of Championships for NCAA and Big Ten Conference postseason events hosted by the university. Her championship experience includes:
  • Big Ten Conference Championships: 16 total events
  • NCAA Championship Experience: Over 50 events spanning:
    • Preliminary Rounds: Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, Softball, Field Hockey, and Golf
    • Regionals & Super Regionals: Softball, Gymnastics, Golf, Bowling
    • National Championships: Wrestling, Gymnastics, Field Hockey, Golf, Fencing, Bowling
She’s been a part of numerous attendance records, most notably iconic events like the 2010 Big Chill at the Big House, Under the Lights I & II” Michigan vs. Notre Dame football games, including the first night game at Michigan Stadium, which drew a post-1948 NCAA-record crowd of 115,109, the 2014 NHL Winter Classic, 2014 International Champions Cup, and the 2024 NFL Draft.

Davila-Toro earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management & Communications from the University of Michigan in 2006. During her undergraduate years from 2003-06, she also served as a student manager for the U of M men's basketball team, earning a varsity letter in 2006.

Davila-Toro is also the co-founder of FOKUS, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation and University of Michigan student organization, whose mission is to educate, empower and unite communities through the use of the arts.
