The 6th Annual GameAbove Detroit Sports Commission Golf Classic returned to Oakland Hills Country Club today, bringing together sports, civic, and business leaders for a day of championship golf and celebrating 25 years of the Detroit Sports Commission (DSC).

Since 2001, the DSC has helped transform Detroit into a global sports destination—attracting and hosting hundreds of professional, collegiate, youth, and amateur sporting events that have generated millions of dollars in economic impact and community benefits.

For the second year, GameAbove—a privately held global investment company with strong ties to the Detroit region—returned as the event's title sponsor. GameAbove Sports invests globally in thoughtfully chosen sports teams and initiatives, serving as a strategic partner focused on promoting the future of sports excellence.

Held at one of golf's most iconic venues and future home of the 2029 U.S. Women's Amateur, 2031 U.S. Women's Open, and 2034 U.S. Open , the Golf Classic serves as an opportunity to honor the Detroit Sport Commission's contributions to the region and community, as well as generate support for its Living Legacy Initiative.

Launched alongside the 2024 NFL Daft in Detroit, the Living Legacy Initiative supports youth literacy programs and access to sports for local youth—particularly young girls in underrepresented communities. The DSC has raised more than $1.7 million to support community programs in southeast Michigan, ensuring the impact of major sporting events extends beyond stadiums and city limits.

"For 25 years, the Detroit Sports Commission has worked to bring world-class sporting events to our city, while ensuring those moments create meaningful, lasting impact in our community," said Marty Dobek, Executive Director of the Detroit Sports Commission. "As we look ahead to hosting the NCAA® Men's Final Four®, we are committed not only to delivering an unforgettable experience for visitors and fans, but also to leaving a legacy that reflects the very best of Detroit long after the final buzzer."
In addition to an afternoon of competitive golf across Oakland Hills' historic South course, guests enjoyed networking with top executives, media personalities, and community leaders, live broadcasts from WJR and 97.1 The Ticket, a silent auction showcasing rare sports memorabilia, a cocktail reception, and dinner program that recognized valuable event partners including title sponsor GameAbove.

Additional partners include presenting sponsors Kapnick Insurance, DTE, food and beverage sponsors Meijer, and MGM Grand. Media partners this year are WJR and 97.1 The Ticket/Audacy, and production partner Dietz Sports and Entertainment.

Additional upcoming DCS events include the 2028 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament, and the 2028 NCAA Midwest Regional at Little Caesars Arena.
