Life after Bryce Underwood officially started for the Belleville football team Thursday at the Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State's Tom Adams Field.

While the Michigan freshman quarterback is scheduled to make his debut, Kendall Franklin, his replacement for the Tigers, made his first start.

The Tigers got shut out in the first half, and the Wolves, seeking revenge, bombed the Tigers 38-7.

Bellville avoided the shutout when Franklin hit Geonte Morris with a 33 yard score with 29 seconds left.

The last time the Tigers were shutout was 15-0 against Dearborn on Sept. 1, 2016.

Franklin completed 19 of 27 passes for 236 yards, but the running game was non-existent.

Twins Lukas and Griffin Boman controlled the running game while the Tigers defense wasn't up to the task of tackling.

Lukas finished with 146 yards on 11 carries.
"Both sides of the ball upfront we did a great job,'' said Coach Justin Pintar. "Our defense didn't give them a whole lot of room to run the ball and I thought when they went back to pass we put pressure on them.''

After Lukas Boman fumbled to end Clarkston's first drive, the Wolves struck quickly on their second drive when Alex Waszczenko hit a wide open Hank Hornung with a 55-yard score with 5:20 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

Boman had a 65-yard TD called back because of holding as the Wolves found the Tigers' defense to their liking.

Tackling was Belleville's biggest issue as they couldn't bring down Boman or any other Wolves running back.

Waszczenko hit Griffin Boman with a 27-yard pass to set up his six-yard run, giving the winners a 14-0 lad with 9:55 left in the first half.

Aidan O'Neil, the No. 4 ranked kicker in the country, booted one from 49-yards with 5:44 left in the first half to give Clarkston a 17-0 lead.

Bellville couldn't get out of its own way.
Franklin hit Charles Britton III with a 57-yard pass to the Clarkson 22.

On the next play the Tigers fumbled, and Gabe Mansour returned it 78-yards for a touchdown, giving the Wolves a commanding 24-0 lead with 4:31 left in the half.

Lukas and Griffin came off the ends and I think Lukas knocked the ball loose,'' said Mansour. "To tell you the truth I thought I was going to be caught from behind but they both were blocking for me.

"This is a great momentum builder for the season. Our offensive line was outstanding.''

Franklin appeared to have hit Britton with a 10-yard TD pass at the horn, but the refs ruled the pass incomplete when it appeared to be a good catch.

Franklin got better during the first half. He completed 7 of 10 passes for 130 yards.

Clarkston's balance was better.

Waszczenko completed five of 10 for 104 yards while Lukas Boman ran the ball 10 times for 88 yards.

Griffin Boman took over the running back duties in the second half and burst through the Belleville defense for a five-yard score to give Clarkston a 31-0 lead with 9:48 left in the third.

Lukas electrified the Clarkston faithful by sprinting 58-yards untouched with 7:09 left in the third to make it 38-0.

"The offensive line played great; they made my job easy,'' said Lukas. "I just tried to take what they gave me. Obviously we had that nasty taste in our mouth from last year. We tried to get our revenge tour on them.''
