For the second year in a row, hockey fans in Detroit set an attendance record for a
professional women's hockey game in the United States.
As part of the Professional Women's Hockey League's
Takeover Tour, the Minnesota Frost and New York Sirens played in front of 14,288 fans Sunday night at Little Caesars Arena. In 2024, the league broke the U.S. attendance record with 13,736 fans for the tour in Detroit, which featured a match up between the Boston Fleet and Ottawa Charge. Denver drew 14,018 fans to set the new U.S. record two months ago, featuring the Frost and the Montreal Victoire.
The
Takeover Tour, which began in 2024 is a slate of nine regular-season neutral-site games across the United States and Canada. Detroit was the eighth stop on this year's tour. During the game, The PWHL also announced that more than 1 million fans have attended games since the league made its debut in 2024.
St. Louis is set to host the final stop of the 2025 Takeover Tour on March 29
th as the Ottawa Charge face the Boston Fleet.
